Bezzi’s studio

Bartolomeo Bezzi was one of the main painter of 19th century in the Dolomites area.

He was from Fucine in Sole Valley. He got married to Isabella de Dal Lago who was from Cles.

The painter was very active and used to travel in different places from Rome to Venice, from Milan to Vienna offering his beautiful view paintings.

He loves landscapes mostly and very rarely he did some portaits.

He spent his last days in the beautiful Palazzo Dal Lago, owned by his wife’s family, were he set up a cozy, luminous and delightful studio.

The studio was located on the third floor of the building just below the roof top and had two big windows and a precious view of the Brenta’s Group mountains.

He loved spending time there and trying to alleviate his depression.

He died in 1923. He has been buried at the cimitero of Cles and the artist Wenter Marini made a allegoric design on his tomb.

Assessorile Palace

Another magnificent and very important palace in the Non Valley is the “Palazzo Assessorile”.

This palace is located in the centre of Cles town and one of the member of the Cles’ dynasty, Arpone de Cles gave the order to build it as another residence for the family and after a while became the seat of the Captain of the Noce Valleys.

In 1484, Giorgio de Cles, renovated the palace.

In 1538, the Prince and bishop Bernardo Clesio died and Ildebrando de Cles, hi nephew inherited the building.

Ildebrando got married to Anna Wolkenstein in 1529, Anna was a pioneer woman, she love to hunt and she loved plants and herbs that she picked at Pelle Mountain and to help to cure some illnesses.

You don’t want to miss the visit to the palace and especially Anna’s room.

Bibilical scenes and hunting scenes are the decors that you can find in her room and with her special and very modern signature ANNA.

In the principal wall of the palace you can see the crest of the de Cles family, two rampant lions and the family’s motto “Uno Fortio” ( the union gives you force)

After the de Cles the palace was owned by the Thun family  and then to the municipality of Cles.

The palace have been used as a prison till the early  1970.

It has been renovated in 2003 and now is a beautiful venue for exhitbitions

You can visit the palace every day 10 am -12 pm and 2.30 pm – 6:30 pm.

Castle of Cles

The Non Valley – Val di Non is one of the richest valley of castles, with more than 20 manors.

The castle of Cles is the residence of the dynasty of de Cles from the 12h century.

In this beautiful “palace” was born one of the great figure Bernardo Clesio, the promoter of the Council of Trento, the Prince and bishop of Trento who gave a Renaissance style look.

The castle stands on an isolated hummock and facing the beautiful and recent Lake of Saint Justine – Lago di Santa Giustina, an artificial basin created in 1951.

The castle of Cles used to control the roman route near the Noce river.

To dived the two banks there was a very long wooden bridge.

In the origin the castle of Cles used to have three towers, but it seemed that during the first peasant Rebellion in 1525 and in 1825 suffered of a severe fire and brought lots of damages.

The Reinassence lover, Clesio, was very fond of his residency and for this reason called the well known painter of that time Marcello Fogolino to paint one of the salons on the second floor.

The theme of his work is the mythological scenes.

The Castle is not available for visits but you can look at it from the view point in Pez or just going for a stroll in the apple-trees.

You want to visit you can get your parking ticket in Tuenno, the nearest town to Tovel.

8.00  am – 5 pm

You can’t book your ticket on-line but only reserving at the ticket office in Tuenno by Ex Russia area.

There is also a shuttle service in Tuenno from 10.20 am to 5.30 pm for 3 € only.

Please note that at Tovel Lake there is no phone reception.

Lake of Tovel

One of the gem of the Natural Park of Adamello – Parco Naturale Adamello di Brenta- is the lake of Tovel. It is one km long and about 500 metres wide.

It is located at 1177 m s.l.m., in the Tovel Valley – Val di Tovel on the territory of Ville d’Anaunia in Non Valley –  Val di Non – .

Here you can fish artic char, phonixus, loach and bleak.

This is the perfect place for a beautiful stroll with your beloved ones, or a bike tour for the experts (17 km).

The Tovel Valley offers a multitudes of landscapes, a green and luxuriant nature, and cute chalets.

Tovel was created by a landslide that took place in1300. It is fed by two rivers, S.Maria Falvona and the Rislà, that forms a beautiful small waterfall near the lake.

It is characterised by green and blue color shades, and in the past it was famous because red due a algae.

Don’t miss the enchanting walk through the path of Glare and its small lakes known as Effimeri.

If you like to enjoy food you must book a table at Chalet Tovel – Mountain Lake, where you can taste the local food while enjoying the view.
